Technology Our New Nanny!





Saturday night was date night for my hubbie and me. We went to the Olive Garden with a couple of close friends. We had been socializing for a while, when this beautiful family came in and were seated at a table across from us. The family was comprised of 8 individuals, but my attention was caught by the young married couple who had a beautiful baby girl who appeared to b
e around three months old. As they were walking by my husband noticed that the baby girl had her own personal iPad strap to her car seat.

Which leads me to a few question, when is it too soon to introduce your child to technology ? What happened to the days when family's just talk to each other? What happened to the coos and the awws, when we looked into a babies eyes?  Are we so wrapped up into our own busy lives that we can't take the time to be parents?
Most children struggle when it comes to outside activities and having just plain ole fun. Technology is a wonderful tool, but should not take the place of family time or parenting. Sometimes when we need a moment to breathe, we often turn to technology to solve the problems that we choose to avoid.   But let's remember that our jobs as parents should be teaching what the word of God says in Philippians 4:8, "Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things." With that in our hearts ,remember that it is OK to turn our electronic devices off and read books, sing praises to God or take a good old fashion nap (they would just love that)!  Tell me your thoughts.
